We’ve now released version 3.0.1 of the Flexmls IDX WordPress Plugin, which includes two important new features:

  • Search — The search widget now provides several templates to format the search as a primary call to action on your web site. In addition to the templates provided, you also can change the color, width, and many other variables to make the search widget stand out on your site.
  • Indexable Search Results and Detail Pages — Perhaps most importantly, you can now display search result and listing detail pages directly through WordPress without using the Flexmls IDX frame.  You can direct your search widget, 1-Click Location Searches and 1-Click Custom Searches to these search result and detail pages as well as include them in posts and pages with short-codes.  Using these new tools will improve the indexing of your site.

New Updates to the flexmls IDX WP Plugin

by mwurzer on March 23, 2011

We’ve made available a new version of the flexmls IDX WordPress plugin that takes advantage of several of the new features of the flexmls IDX API, including:

  1. Paging — The slideshow widget will now automatically fetch more listings when users get to the end and want to view more.
  2. Additional Fields — Bedrooms, bathrooms and square feet can now be displayed on the slideshow widget.
  3. Sorting — The slideshow widget can be sorted by price, high to low or low to high, as well as by most recently updated.
  4. My Office or Company Listings — The slideshow also now supports showing only listings from your office or company.
  5. Neighborhood or Location-Based Pages and Templates — One of the best ways to use the various widgets in the flexmls IDX plugin is to deliver location-specific content to your site to help guide users and search engines.  This most recent upgrade to the plugin now includes a neighborhood page feature to allow you to create one or more templates and then use those templates in other pages by automatically substituting the location.  Basically, this allows you to set up the format of a page once and re-use it for many different statistical reports or hot sheets for the markets you serve.

We hope these changes to the flexmls IDX plugin are useful to you.  We based many of the changes on requests from users and have plans for another update in the next several weeks that will incorporate even more user feedback, so please keep the ideas coming.
